Heartstone Music - Traditional Music of the Celtic Isles
Celtic Bagpipe Music - Sgt. Mackenzie

—LYRICS IN DESCRIPTION— A single bagpipe/vocal piece named “Sgt. Mackenzie” which is from the We Were Soldiers soundtrack. This is a very sad song, just kinda forces you to think about our Veterans. One of my absolute favourite musical pieces. All of this accompanied by the beauty of Scotland.

Please Enjoy, like I had enjoyed making this

ORIGINAL SCOTTISH VERSION

Lay me doon in the caul caul groon
Whaur afore monie mair huv gaun

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

Lay me down in the cold cold ground
Where before many more have gone
Lay me down in the cold cold ground
Where before many more have gone

When they come I will stand my ground
Stand my ground I’ll not be afraid

Thoughts of home take away my fear
Sweat and blood hide my veil of tears

Once a year say a prayer for me
Close your eyes and remember me

Never more shall I see the sun
For I fell to a Germans gun

Lay me down in the cold cold ground
Where before many more have gone
Lay me down in the cold cold ground
Where before many more have gone

Where before many more have gone

In memory of Sgt. Charles Stuart MacKenzie
Seaforth Highlanders
Who along with many others gave up his life
So that we can live free

We will remember them

    Scotsman were …
Scotsman were really true warriors in their day, youd be a fool to under estimate an army of scotsman armed with only stones as they were really prepared to die for their beliefs. and their wives suffered much agony and anguish over this, but scotsman had to earn respect from their women all they had to do is be men and be mature as being drawn into battle for a scotsman was the last resort. However battle was no problem resorting too for the greater good of the scotish clans.
    Respect

    Yeah, any sort of …
Yeah, any sort of trilled “R” is acceptable in my book. The voiced “R”s of more “standard” English just bother me…and then to hear people speaking foreign languages with those same voiced “R”s just breaks my heart

Well English mixed with celtic languages is nice, not regular “Oxford”-english. I dont like that ugly “R” they pronounce. The scottish “R” is decent.

I love how he’s actually bothered to translate it. I’m pretty sure 9/10ths of native english speakers can understand it despite the accent.
